Biography
David Demers is best known for his large, abstract, representations of waves. Demers uses visually large, asymmetrical, stripes and a bold palette to convey vibrations that are at once, soothing, lyrical and powerful. Living and working in East Hampton , New York , Demers bridges a great gap in the world of American Painting, between artists of the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries, some of whom worked in the Hamptons at one time, as disparate as Thomas Moran, Richard Diebenkorn, and Robert Motherwell each of whom found inspiration in the Hamptons’ light. Demers was educated broadly at RISD, The University of Colorado and The Art Students League of New York.
