Description

Tenzin’s painting "Cultured" is the first painting he has done that marks the beginning of one of the artist’s lifelong artistic goals in depicting the Tibetan culture and all its beauties. The model behind "Cultured" is the artist’s sister Yeshi. This painting marks her wedding day at the age of 26, despite living in America for 17 years, her culture remains very present. Yeshi is depicted in the painting wearing her wedding dress and traditional Tibetan hat. She gazes outward in an imagined Tibetan landscape and to her future. 

 

Biography

Tsultrim Tenzin was born in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1993. Coming from a cultured Tibetan background, he is the first artist in his family.  At an early age, he displayed a deep interest in art. It was in New York City where he cultivated his talent. Tsultrim is a recipient of the Anders Larson-Toich Fund Scholarship, Alma Schapiro Fund Scholarship, and the GCA Structure Prix. Tsultrim is currently living and working in New York City.
